Hello
I am trying to install OSCAR 6.0.5 in CENTOS 5.4 for i386. but the
installation stops in the bootstrap test. I hope somebody can help me.
I was following the steps described in the user guide for the
installation:
a) The OS CENTOS 5.4 i386 was updated (with yum update)
b) SELINUX was disabled
c) The /etc/hosts was modified to
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.10 bioinformatica.encb bioinformatica
The system has two internet cards eth0 and eth1
d) Then the OSCAR repository was created and set to:
http://bison.csm.ornl.gov/repos/unstable/rhel-5-i386
also I tried (in a separated intallation)
http://bison.csm.ornl.gov/repos/rhel-5-i386
e) Then I proceeded to install OSCAR and to configure it for my
particular Distro.
f) When the bootstrap command is used with the first repository (the
unastable) I got the next error (after few seconds):

When I used the second repository, the bootstrap goes on more lines,
but after some minutes also stopped with errors:

To start mysqld at boot time you have to copy
support-files/mysql.server to the right place for your system
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER !
To do so, start the server, then issue the following commands:
/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'new-password'
/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h bioinformatica.encb password
'new-password'
Alternatively you can run:
/usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation
which will also give you the option of removing the test
databases and anonymous user created by default. This is
strongly recommended for production servers.

You can start the MySQL daemon with:
cd /usr ; /usr/bin/mysqld_safe &
You can test the MySQL daemon with mysql-test-run.pl
cd mysql-test ; perl mysql-test-run.pl
