It sounds like you are missing some drivers your hardware needs to boot properly in your modprobe.conf files. Please see my experiences with a similar problem on Dell blades here: http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/TipLDAP The sections labeled PE1955 only were added to solve a problem like yours where there was a kernel panic after rebooting the client.
