Hi,

There's an even simpler envelope by Francis LeVangia in the Art of Origami by
Gay Merrill Gross.
This excellent book has been out of print for a long time. I've recenly
gotten used copies of origami books
on thriftbooks.com which are in very good shape and a bargain and also cheaper
shipping than amazon.

Thank you Gerardo- I reached out to Michel and he pointed me toward the bar
envelope by Frances
LeVangia(http://www.metteunits.com/EnvelopeDiagram.htm<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.metteunits.com%2FEnvelopeDiagram.htm&data=05%7C01%7CGurkewitzR%40wcsu.edu%7Cd288d675874042aa36b308daeb792530%7Ce1622dbc94ba48ad87bba7f28074ee3d%7C0%7C0%7C638081202809991306%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=XHqk1MKjhMn1Yi%2BAIqXBNynyoHs1BySIlceKbEhbXR8%3D&reserved=0>).
Then I developed my own using the same locking mechanism for the bottom of the
envelope.

You can see what I came up with on my instagram
here<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fp%2FCm2RASMp3xI%2F%3Futm_source%3Dig_web_copy_link&data=05%7C01%7CGurkewitzR%40wcsu.edu%7Cd288d675874042aa36b308daeb792530%7Ce1622dbc94ba48ad87bba7f28074ee3d%7C0%7C0%7C638081202809991306%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=40JEQWb4EnGC0JuRwAQnkhWaEKl8mqWWoJe7zlCnMd0%3D&reserved=0>.
It is super simple so it's likely I'm not the first to stumble upon it. I have
also uploaded the folding sequence there.

Thank you to all who lent a helping hand, and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Ian is asking for origami envelopes appropriate for standard-size trading
cards. Do you need it to be of the exact size or can there be a bit of leftover
space inside? I think many rectangular models will work for you. You'll find
different diagrams here:

Once you get the math behind the particular envelope, you can probably cut the
initial sheet to the right size so that the final envelope end up with the
dimensions you wish. I do advice that you add a few of millimeters, or
sixteenths of an inch, taking into account the bulk of eight cards,

There's one I like in particular, it's EnV DeloP, a variation by Michel Grand
of Gay Merrill Gross's Merrill Envelope. That's because the model doesn't eat
up too much of the original sheet, and in Michel's variation, you don't have to
unfold the envelope completely in order to remove its contents. That means
non-origamists will have no problem in opening and closing the envelope as many
times as they wish. It has often happened to me that when I give certain types
of origami containers to non-origamists, they end up with an unfolded and
creased paper after opening it, which they don't know how to fold again nor
have enough motivation to try. That's why I call those models containers for
origamists ; )

If you're interested in that particular envelope, I suggest you contact Michel.
Do you already know him?

Cheers!
