Hi everyone,

it's the first Saturday of October, which is when I usually send my monthly
update. Last month I sent a second message, as I'd attended the BOS 50th
anniversary convention, but there's still lots of new videos to share with.

First, though a quick update on the BOS video.

1. Subtitles for "How to be a better origami teacher"
If you watched the recording of my talk on how to be a better origami
teacher already, you probably noticed that the audio quality isn't that
great. I fear the recording has some issues I wasn't able to fix, so to
make up for that at least a bit, I added closed captions to the video. You
can activate them by clicking on "CC" in the bottom right corner of the
video player. I hope this helps at least a bit.

Plus, if you'd like to help out and translate the captions to make
subtitles available in other languages, you can do so by visiting this link

Your help would be much appreciated!

Finally, the BOS has also published a video on the convention, namely an
interview with the special guests Robert Lang, Paul Jackson, Tomoko Fuse,
and Giant Dinh. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/jl4PjWEJu24

Next, let's take a look at the content I've posted since my last message!

2. Tutorial: "Nightwatch" by Kay Kraschewski a.k.a."Akugami"
I found this cute 3D owl called "Nightwatch" designed by Akugami on Flickr
a while ago and totally fell in love with it. I figured it'd be perfect for
Halloween - although I enjoy folding it all year round. I hope you do, too.

Kay Kraschewski also gave me permission to trace his diagrams (available at
) and make them available to you with minor modifications at
http://www.happyfolding.com/diagrams?designer=697 - which I'm sure is good
news for everyone, especially those of you that prefer folding from
diagrams.

Thanks again to Kay for a wonderful design and his permission to make a
tutorial and diagrams accessible to you!

3. Tutorial: "Umulius Rectangulum" by Thoki Yenn
My effort to revisit designs from the past and produce new, better
tutorials for them is still going strong. This time I decided to make a new
video for the model that's also called "Magic Rings" or "Impossible
Rectangle" by Thoki Yenn. In addition to better recording quality, I also
tweaked the folding sequence slightly to get a cleaner finish, so I hope
you enjoy that particularly.

4. Tutorial: Dollar version of "Umulius Rectangulum" by Thoki Yenn
I also decided to make an add-on tutorial on how to fold the Umulius
Rectangulum form six US Dollar bills. I couldn't find diagrams for it
online, only a mention that you could fold the model from the "green
stuff", too, so played around with the folding sequence a little. Although
it's very similar to the original fold, I hope this tutorial helps you out,
if you'd like to fold the money version of it.

5. Time-lapse and ASMR: "Dollar Umulius Rectangulum"
I recorded myself while folding a dollar Umulius Rectangulum, trying out
some variations of the folding sequence. These I posted both as a
time-lapse and without speed-up (as part of my Origami ASMR series). You
can watch them here:

And I believe that's it from me for the past month. I hope you continue to
enjoy my videos and wish you all, as always, happy folding!
