Hi there,

I'm happy to announce three new tutorials, which went online today! And
they're perfect if you're looking to personalise a gift with origami - or
let origami be the gift itself. Perhaps even for Mother's Day?

1. Square Interlace Bracelet (Michał Kosmulski)
The first tutorial is for a bracelet with a tessellation decoration - the
Square Interlace Pattern by Michał Kosmulski. It's not that difficult a
tessellation to precrease or collapse, so even if you haven't done
tessellations before, you can give it a try. And the result is stunning!

2. Square Interlace Box (Michał Kosmulski)
What goes better with a bracelet than a matching box to present it to
someone? That's why the second tutorial is for a box, also featuring the
Square Interlace Pattern by Michał Kosmulski. This one's a bit trickier to
collapse, as you have a 3 by 3 grid of molecules. But I hope my tutorial
clarifies the tricky parts, so that you can fold this stunning box, too.
Plus, a box is always great for giving away - or folding for yourself to
store small tidbits in. One of the boxes I folded now holds the paper clips
I sometimes use to secure modulars, or to help with shaping models. :)

Many thanks to Michał Kosmulski, who not only designed these wonderful
models, but also made the instructions available in his Flickr stream (
https://www.flickr.com/photos/kosmulski_origami/30335123672/ ) and gave me
permission to make a tutorial on his models. I highly recommend you also
check out his other work, both on Flickr https://www.flickr.com/

3. 13ths on a square
The Square Interlace Box starts with a 13 by 13 square grid. I put some
time into devising a method which resulted in a precise enough fold for my
liking, as well as only requiring pinches on the edges of the paper. And as
I figured this method could be useful not just for the box, but also other
folds, I made a separate tutorial just showing how to fold 13ths. I hope
you'll find it useful!

4. TheFold article: "Video Tutorials Now and Then"
Can you believe it? This is the 10th year that I've been making video
tutorials. So I wrote a short article, comparing videos from the start and
now - for the Hydrangea by Shuzo Fujimoto (videos from 2007 and 2015) and
for the Rabbit by Jun Maekawa (videos from 2012 and 2017).
Read it at https://origamiusa.org/thefold/article/video-
tutorials-then-and-now and do share your thoughts with me either in the
comments section of TheFold, of YouTube, or via email!

5. TheFold book review: "New Expressions in Origami Art" by Meher McArthur
I also wrote a review of a new origami exhibition-style book, i.e. no
diagrams, but lots of wonderful photos and interesting back-stories. It's a
beautiful work, and a perfect gift for any origami lover or art lover in
general. But I'll say no more now, you can read the full review at
https://origamiusa.org/thefold/article/book-review-

I wish you all a great weekend and happy folding,

-- Sara
