I don't know why but I can think of several possibilities. As Vanessa is
mentioned first as an author it could be her book for which he made the
photos. Or of course they were into origami together.
By the time De Maré went to architectural school Walter Gropius (Bauhaus)
was a well know name in modern architecture. He was known to be a huge fan
of Fröbels ideas and De Maré may be influenced by that as he felt strongly
about modernising architecture. From Fröbel to origami is just a small step,
many of us started the same way. ;-)
