So a couple of days ago I asked if a flat frame, I created, had been
created before. I shared a picture of the model and a CP. Sy Chen answered
back, mentioning and asking a couple of things. I'm breaking down his
message and responding it bit by bit.

Thanks Sy Chen for your message, it's always a pleasure to read your
thoughts.

"Most of the frames I saw or designed are 3D like. 2D versions usually are
made to cover or hold only 4 corners . Can you tell us more about your
locking/folding sequence?"

I'm attaching here a picture of the model in its last step, I hope that's
enough to reveal how I'm doing it:

"I did try reproducing your frame from crease pattern yesterday. I do have
some suggestions. Can you extend your method to any rectangle? Document and
compare all possible mechanisms of corner locking. I did come up with one
good secured variation with different crease pattern."

Yes, I can fold "my" model with any rectangle and make the mouldings as
thick as wish them to be. What are your suggestions? : )

"Your 2D design also reminds me of my old unpublished work- Windowed
Envelope. My goal was to fold any customized envelope containing a window
from single rectangle. You can see plenty of those commercial windowed
envelopes daily. My finished design is just like a frame with an off-center
window."

I'd love to see it! Would you show me a picture of a fold of the model?

And guys (fellow members of the list) please let me know if someone else
had already created "my" flat frame. OK?

Cheers!
