Dear friends,
We would like to invite you to the Polish origami convention. The 15th
Outdoor Origami Meeting (the 15th Polish Origami Convention aka Plener
Origami) will be held Saturday April 30th to Monday May 2nd), 2016
(with pre-folding session on Friday April 29th evening. The convention
place is located in the center of Krakow (Old Podgorze District), but
still with some outdoor activities available. We hope such arrangement
will attract you to Krakow and we will host you beginning of May.
Robert J. Lang is our special guest. We admire his enormous contribution
to development of origami and his broad interest in different aspects of
origami from mathematical foundations and technical applications to fine
art realization.
Techno is a leading topic of our convention. So we are awaiting techno
models. It may be representation of an engineering object (for instance
a bridge, a tower or a dome) or a result of application of special
technology in origami, or opposite - application of origami in
technology. This year we would like to focus our attention to short
stories of “The Cyberiad” by Stanislaw Lem, a Polish s-f writer. He was
the most popular non-English sf writer for some time. In 2016 there is
95 anniversary of his birth and 10 anniversary of his death. He lived in
Krakow for most of his life and created here all of his books. “The
Cyberiad” was translated to English, German, Italian and many other
languages. And it is really worth to read. We hope you will be inspired
by adventures of Trurl and Klapaucius and bring a Cyberiad model to the
convention.
And as usual we especially appreciate geometric models.
We plan to publish a convention book this year too. Would you be so kind
to send us a diagram of one of your creations related in some way to the
leading theme, to be printed in the convention book. The book will be
printed in ca. 150 copies and it will be sold to convention participants
(at special low price) and later (if any copies left unsold). All
proceeds from sale will cover the convention organization cost. Every
author will receive a free copy of the convention book. Please send your
diagram till 15th of March to the editor of the convention book Halina
(Haligami) Rosciszewska-Narloch [email protected]
If you are able to attend, please bring your models for exhibition.
The convention info and registration card will be available in February
2016 at www.origami.edu.pl under "Plener / Convention" caption or
directly at www.origami.edu.pl/index.php/start-plenery
Best regards,
Krystyna and Wojtek
