----- I first learned this model, probably around 2005, from a flyer I
acquired (don't remember where) that attributed it to Michael LaFosse and
it was called Party Decoration (I think, I’ve since lost track of the
paper). The "pocket" was shown with the top layer of the pocket folded
back-and-forth to create a zig-zag band, exposing the bottom layer, and
inside color, of the pocket, then you inserted the two flaps on either side
of the pocket. The zig-zag made a nice color-change addition to the model.
Later I found it diagrammed in "Japanese Paper Crafting” by Michael
LaFosse, 2007, pg88. It’s called Crane’s Egg Modular Box and the design is
attributed to Richard L. Alexander. Again, the model features a folded
design that shows the back-color, using the top layer of the pocket, this
time a different one than the zig-zag one I already knew. It's also
diagrammed (with the zig-zags) in "Story-gami Kit" by LaFosse & Alexander
(2010), called Fiesta Box. I have also tried some other variations, on my
own. Definitely an easy, fun, and multi-purpose model.
