Job Title: network security engineer Job Type: Contract Duration: 6 months *Location : Iowa City, IA 52243* *USC or GC or EAd GC )* Job Description: *Responsibilities:* · Responsible for maintaining the day-to-day support of the hardware and software that protects information systems from network attacks by using Firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Proxy Servers, and Intrusion Detection (IDS) systems. · Works with peers, management, and external contacts to investigate, analyze, and respond to anomalies as well as research, test, and implement new technologies. · Researches, monitors, and identifies security and virus threats. · Responds to threats by alerting other departments. · Creates and modifies security rules in Firewalls, Proxy Servers, VPN, and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). · Troubleshoots network connectivity through Firewall devices by performing network traces, analyzing data, and implementing solutions. · Performs management of Internet Usage Reports, Digital Certificates, Remote Internet Access, Antivirus and SPAM controls, and Domain Names. · Help design and plan upgrades, and new solutions · Work with managed services provider to implement solutions · May work currency project or business improvement projects *Qualifications:* · AAS degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 4 yrs. experience in the Information Technology field (required) · Deep experience in network technologies (required) · Ability to self-start work, design new solution, and solve issues · Ability to follow standard procedures and controls (e.g. Change Management) · Experience working with managed service providers for Network needs (preferred) · Technologies: Cisco ASA, Firewall, Load Balancing, Routers, Switches, ISE, VPN, Wireless · Cisco certifications preferred!!!
