This is very different than board testing* . • The Test Engineer is the primary person who develops diagnostic tools and utilities to be used as part of the manufacturing test processes. The position requires involvement with a variety of issues, from the ongoing support of released products/processes in several factories, to new product introduction (NPI) activities in close coordination with internal engineering teams. • The ideal candidate will have the ability to review, plan and implement product test strategies; create and document test and diagnostic requirements; support prototype evaluation and validation cycles; integrate and deliver test software processes into production using a standardized test automation framework; and make recommendations in capital equipment to implement out-sourced production testing. *PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* • Responsible for developing manufacturing test plans (including cases for feature and functionality testing, test matrixes, defining test methodologies and test strategies), monitoring test quality and driving test improvements. • Responsible for defining test objectives, develop and implement into production automated unit level and system level functional tests. • Responds to technical problems covering the entire realm of production (from component level to final system shipment issues). • Works closely with NPI, Platform, and Engineering teams to ensure test coverage goals area aligned with product development goals. • Collect and review test/yield data to improve test process and coverage and identify root causes to manufacturing process and product failures. • Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing management of test processes used in the manufacture of Core Technology Division products. This also includes the development, redesign, and ongoing management of supporting tools, systems, and/or equipment used in manufacturing. • Generate, recommend and implement proposed solutions, tasks, and projects that address quality, schedule and cost improvements. • Coordinate with product development teams to ensure that the final product meets all requirements before production release. *Skills/Experience:* • 5-7 years job experience in similar manufacturing/operations role in high technology OEM product space involved with system-level functional test and/or hardware diagnostic software development. • Intermediate- to expert-level Linux kernel and filesystem experience • Strong working knowledge of networking infrastructure (switching and routing hardware, IP addressing, protocols, utilities, etc.) • Hands-on experience using PC hardware interfaces/firmware such as BIOS, IPMI, BMC, DMI, I2C. • Knowledge of test automation, scripting and tools (eg. shell/bash, tcl/tk, Expect, Perl, Python) is highly desirable. Some programming and configuration experience with C/C++/Visual Basic/NI LabVIEW is helpful. • Working knowledge of XML files, test databases, specifying test data, data collection methodology, error codes, and database construction. • Experience in testing and debugging PCA assemblies, Intel based high-speed highly configurable servers (PCIe-based), and enterprise I/O interfaces. • Experience in an ODM “appliance” manufacturing model • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision on multiple projects in a fast paced and dynamic environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and professional demeanor. • Strong communication, interpersonal, and computing skills (includes Internet research, email, MS Word, MS Excel etc). • Experience using PDM tools (i.e. Arena, Agile or equivalent electronic workflow based change management tools) and understanding of engineering services change management processes (MCO, ECO, Deviation). *Education:* • Requires BSEE/ME or equivalent and 3-5 years Manufacturing Test Development Engineering experience.
