Role: Unix/Linux Admin Location: Long Island City, NY Duration: 12 Months *Competencies:* HP Unix (HP-UX) Distributed System Management (IT IS), HP Unix (HP-UX) Distributed System Management (IT IS) *Essential Skills: * In-depth knowledge of UNIX / Linux (preferably Oracle Linux), Apache and SAN • Experience with sever clustering and high availability solutions, especially Oracle VM and VMWare. • Minimum 5 years’ experience with rack/stack and break/fix of servers and storage • Experience with 24 x 7 support including rotating on-call • 5 yrs professional systems maintenance experience in a data center environment • Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments. • In-depth hardware configuration knowledge • Shell programming expertise • Network experience preferred • Exceptional troubleshooting skills • Ability to apply best practice to internal operations • Ability to resolve issues under pressure • Ability to understand how duties relate to business needs / objectives " *Role Description:* · Overall responsibility for the UNIX/Linux architecture design and documentation ensuring designs adhere to industry best practices. · Management and administration of the UNIX /Linux environment including but not limited to patching, troubleshooting, account management, and security. · Plan and execute projects of all sizes. · Configure and install new servers, devices, and peripherals. · Provide technical support of SAN and NAS storage systems. · Create and maintain the operation procedures for SAN and NAS storage systems and DBA · Install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools. · Adhere to change management policy to ensure timely notification, testing and approval for all system related changes that impact the environment. · Partner with Service Desk and other support areas, to handle escalated calls and to also provide training for tasks that may be appropriately handled by other support groups. · Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures for systems. · Ensure system availability and minimal downtime to improve satisfaction to our business. · System failure analysis and recovery; insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems.
