There is an additional note on security that was not captured in the summary:

  * If an official recorded media is not provided, anyone can record the
meeting and easily edit it the same way.
  * The security threat is present regardless of whether or not we publish an
official recording.
  * With an official recording we actually have proof that any copy was
doctored.

Regards,
Mark

Subject: [opnfv-tsc] Summary of Weekly Technical Community Discussion Monday
October 21, 2019

Hello community,

Thank you all for attending the weekly technical discussion today.

Today, we collected community input to TSC meeting logistics, primarily
concerns. Some of the main points are:

  1. The focus should be on how to improve TSC meeting minutes.
  2. Additional security concerns were raised, i.e. if recorded media is
publicly available, anyone can get the recorded media and easily edit, say Joe
Doe’s voice (“photoshopped”), thus it can
     * Forge something that Joe Doe actually didn’t say but with Joe Doe’s
real voice (similar to those forged images and videos on Internet)
     * Security threat to voice authentication and identification that are
being used more and more in daily life, e.g. banking, etc. For example, anyone
can use recorded media and edit Joe Doe’s voice to easily access Joe Doe’s bank
account.

At the end of meeting, @Mark Beierl<mailto:mbei...@vmware.com> clarified that
according to TSC meeting on Oct 15, the next step is to define policy and
procedure. Recording cannot be implemented until policy and procedure is well
defined to address those legal and security concerns.

For details of discussion today, please refer to the meeting minutes page [1],
which includes attendees list and IRC log [2].

We are also looking for discussion topics / agenda items for next week’s
technical discussion on October 28th. If you have any topic, please let me know.

Thank you

Bin
