Hello team, There was a technical difficulty for Hongbo to connect to the meeting. So I took the liberty to lead the discussion for Dovetail today. Here are is the summary:
(1) IRC Minutes: http://meetbot.opnfv.org/meetings/opnfv-meeting/2016/opnfv-meeting.2016-08-12-14.05.html (2) We focused on discussing Dovetail specific work for testing IPv6 overlay networks (3) We started with gap analysis. Four gaps (or work items) are identified: a. Gap #1: C&C needs a CLI (manual method) to run Tempest Smoke Test for IPv6 specific Tempest API and Scenario testing i. Current Tempest API and Scenario Testing for IPv6 are part of OpenStack default Smoke Test, run in FuncTest and integrated with into OPNFV's CI/CD environment. In another word, current IPv6 Overlay Testing is automatic in FuncTest. ii. Reference: http://artifacts.opnfv.org/ipv6/docs/installationprocedure/index.html#testing-methodology iii. Action #1: Dovetail team figures out a manual method (CLI) to run current IPv6 Overlay Testing which is automatically run in FuncTest b. Gap #2: Yardstick test case, which works in Brahmaputra (OpenStack Liberty), now fails in OpenStack Mitaka i. This is due to the deprecated "security_group_api" in nova.conf and related deprecated parameters of Neutron API in Mitaka. ii. Action #2: IPv6 team and Dovetail team jointly work on an alternative solution to overcome the deprecated methods in Mitaka c. Gap #3: Test Result Dashboard is not available now i. Action #3: Dovetail team figures out, and perhaps develops, a way of showing test result dashboard d. Gap #4: In case of Underlay IPv6 deployment in an IPv6-only infrastructure, there isn't Underlay Testing at this moment to validate API endpoints are all listening on IPv6-only addresses i. This gap is only applicable to underlay (IPv6-only infrastructure). ii. So it is out of scope of C&C for Colorado (which is IPv6 overlay), but may be addressed in the future (4) It is noted that filling the gaps above is a prerequisite, in particular gap #2, for inclusion of IPv6 overlay in the Dovetail test suite. (5) It is also noted that even if there is no particular IPv6 test suite in Dovetail, Gap #1 and Gap #3 are merely the *manual way* of running current *automatic* IPv6 Overlay Test of FuncTest, and how to show the test result in a more user-friendly way. (6) There is no impact on passing current IPv6 Overlay Testing, which is automatically run in FuncTest through CI/CD as part of OpenStack default Smoke Test. (7) As a minimum, Dovetail may just specify that DUT needs to pass current IPv6 Overlay Testing automatically run in FuncTest through CI/CD as part of OpenStack default Smoke Test. (8) Post-meeting Notes: IPv6 Team had a meeting after Dovetail meeting and discussed Gap #2. IPv6 team is looking into an alternative solution. Let me know if there is any question or comment. Thanks Bin
