Saverio, No problem, I'm happy to clarify. prplwrt is a working group in prpl Foundation, which is a membership organization focusing on open source and industry. prplwrt in particular has the following mission: "The mission of the prplwrt PEG is to enable close collaboration between users, hardware manufacturers, semiconductor companies, and the broader OpenWrt ecosystem in a community-run fashion. The focus of the technology enhancements are centered around creating a robust, flexible open source platform suitable for mission critical, highly reliable products. We encourage innovation and applicability to a wide variety of hardware platforms."
As the mission has said, prplwrt focuses on ways to improve collaboration between community and industry. We've done that in a few different ways: * organize weekly, public meetings open to anyone interested to discuss OpenWrt (Meeting videos can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXrC-Z4UIvYqa_oNtj0Y9_NBDlQhTSXNk) * funding and organizing the first OpenWrt Summit in October 2015 in Dublin (Videos are at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXrC-Z4UIvYpSV5WcjEVgz6boq30GOFPf) * improving and generalizing the BoardFarm testing work that QCA released ( https://github.com/qca/boardfarm) * organizing an effort to discourage the FCC from restricting modification of devices, particularly routers ( http://prpl.works/2015/09/21/yes-the-fcc-might-ban-your-operating-system/) Over the next year we have the following goals: * Funding OpenWrt work through the PSSP * Keeping the community and industry up to date on how regulations affect OpenWrt * Organizing and funding the next OpenWrt Summit in Berlin in conjunction with ELCE * Continuing improvements to BoardFarm to make it a general testing framework for OpenWrt We're flexible though and open to new goals and collaboration with the community. I hope that gives you a better sense of what we do. We'd also love to have you join our mailing list by visiting http://lists.prplfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/openwrt Thanks for your interest!
