These are the changes applied to mac80211-next:
- Revert "mac80211: in IBSS use the Auth frame to trigger STA reinsertion"
- mac80211: make mgmt_tx accept a NULL channel
- brcm80211: make mgmt_tx in brcmfmac accept a NULL channel
- ath6kl: make mgmt_tx accept a NULL channel
- nl80211: allow sending CMD_FRAME without specifying any frequency

and these are the patched pending for hostapd:
- Support not specifying the frame frequency.
- Register for AUTH frames when joining an IBSS network
- Improve the IBSS/RSN mechanism

However I do not know if they correctly apply on the mac80211 and hostapd
versions existing in AA.
For the workflow: I don't know how the guys in Openwrt moves new patches from
trunk to AA. You should ask them.

For the wpa2+adhoc+batman: batman does not change anything in this scenario,
either wpa2+adhoc works or does not (despite batman-adv).

I hope this helped.

Cheers,
