I think it should be sufficient, if the maintainer would be informed,
e.g. on a monthly period.

It would be nice too, if a maintainer could run his very own buildbot to
be able to fix packages in  a more efficient way. So it would not
be necessary to create a fresh checkout everytime a fix is needed.
