There is some checking going on in the U-Boot when bootcmd is
executed, this is not the default U-Boot behavior. I did not look into
the details in the U-Boot source.
Instead I use the "preboot" command to start the kernel. This usually
prints the "Hit any key message", but now starts my kernel and skips
the check :).

Is your goal an OpenWRT firmware upgrade from inside the Netgear
firmware? I don't know yet how the Netgear upgrade process works and
if it is even possible to do something like this.
