You are right, the problem wasn't the name but the "option disabled 1" and since I modified both at once I thought the name was to blame. I didn't expect "option disabled 1" to make the device completely disappear from ifconfig/iwconfig, I just thought it would let it in the "down" state. Anyway, everything is OK then, thank you.
