Not sure how much difference 11n-only would make but rt2x00 might not yet be as advanced as the original ralink drivers are. However, in my testing I can get up to 60Mbps (=7-8MB/s) under good channel conditions without running 11n only mode using HT20 (and with a number of pending patches applied). Haven't done much testing with HT40 though ...
