Hello,
This patch adds the Seeks program into feeds/packages.
Seeks ( http://www.seeks-project.info/site/ ) is an experimental
projet to build a distributed, P2P search engine.
While for now it's essentially a query aggregator (i.e. you make a
query, it asks several other engines & returns the results),
the long-term goal is to create a P2P search engine that would be
independant from companies's web crawlers and search engine.
That's the reason why I decided to build the developement (GIT)
version rather than the stable one.
To achieve this P2P goal, Seeks need persistent storage on the
target: So it's *mandatory* to use seeks on an overlay, for exemple.
Installing Seeks on a flash-only device makes no sense.
To handle persistance, Seeks needs the Protobuf and TokyoCabinet
libraries , previously proposed.
For now, the configuration is done through the regulars seeks files
in /etc/seeks: No effort has been made to add a UCI layer, although
it's clearly a goal if the demand is here.
I DO apply as the official maintainer for these packages
(tokyocabinet, protobuf, seeks) for OpenWRT, and can be reached in
particular
on irc (#openwrt and #openwrt-devel) as "obinou".
I would be delighted to hear all remarks, advices and ideas
concerning these patches, and I will be able to propose other round
of
patches
if necessary before commit.
Thanks.
