I usually don't trust cheap consumer device switches to implement such higher layer hacks properly without causing side-effects. By the way, in newer kernels the Linux bridge code also does IGMP snooping and this could be extended to support handling multicast stream traffic on wireless interfaces in a much more useful way (e.g. turning it into unicast where it makes sense).
