I just did a build on backfire (revision 14012) for Orion (while checking a patch for make 3.82 for busybox). No problem at all. So I cannot reproduce the problem here. Can you check again and give me the output of "svn info | grep Revision" of the failing tree (assuming it is a checkout from svn)?
