As for "make kernel_oldconfig>" - is it required in case I hadn't ever used "make kernel_menuconfig" before? I was pretty sure that the openwrt build system uses default kernel configs for the target platform in case there were no user customizations to the kernel configuration (i.e. there were no calls to "make kernel_menuconfig").
