Hrm.  Yeah.  the datasheets on the MAX3232
(http://www.maxim-ic.com/quick_view2.cfm/qv_pk/1068/t/al) and MAX232
(http://www.maxim-ic.com/quick_view2.cfm/qv_pk/1798/t/al) show quite the
difference: 5V/3...@.03ma  vs. 5...@5ma.  Hrm.  Even thought the "Key
Specifications" for the MAX232 says 5V, the "Key Features" says "+3.0V
to +5.5V".

Does look like the MAX3232 is the better option.  Oh well, mine is
ordered at this point so no changing my mind.
