hi,

a while back, i submitted a patch to add a choice of binutils-2.18
to the toolchain build:

  https://dev.openwrt.org/changeset/9814

without realizing that there were a number of openwrt patches that
should have gone with that from the binutils 2.17 directory:

100-uclibc-conf.patch
110-arm-eabi-conf.patch
300-001_ld_makefile_patch.patch
300-006_better_file_error.patch
300-012_check_ldrunpath_length.patch
400-mips-ELF_MAXPAGESIZE-4k.patch
500-avr32.patch
501-avr32-fix-pool-alignment.patch
601-cris-errormsg.patch
702-binutils-skip-comments.patch

based on a quick perusal of those patches, a number of them are
related to uclibc, and i can spend some time today redoing those
patches for 2.18 unless someone is already doing that.

if i did it, it would probably just involve taking the patches or
their parts, seeing if they still apply against 2.18 (with perhaps a
little cleanup or de-fuzzification) and tweaking them, without digging
too much into what they're for.

  should i do that?
