just a thought, but it might be clearer if the directory tools/ext2fs was renamed to tools/genext2fs to make it more obvious as to what it represents. most linux folks already have a pre-conceived idea of what "ext2fs" represents, and that directory really is exclusively about genext2fs, which is not the same thing.
