It happened, and personally I had lot's of fun, and would like to
mention a few of the highlight:

- The OpenWrt MediaCenter edition had the problems with sound solved,
thanks to loswillios. Now it would be really nice to hear some reports
on the day-to-day use of this "entertainment super-central play-it-all
system" :P

- Asus routers have by default had problems with the functionality of
the original firmware upgrade function, as a simple way to install
OpenWrt. Their might be a fix on its way, and hopefully it will soon be
possible to upload an OpenWrt .trx file directly.

- There was a discussion about new features, a wish-list, for OpenWrt.
There are many things to dream about but, one practical aspect is the
inclusion of micro-editions of various packages. One example would be
the tcpdump package which could become much smaller if outdated and less
often used protocols were configured out, hereby decreasing the size.

- I did myself spend hours with trying to configure WDS between two brcm
based routers (WRT54G v.3.1 and Asus WL-500GP). I still don't know why
but it did not work :/

- On the negative side: It was brought to attention that the company
OSWave.com has copied kernel code from OpenWrt. The company was asked to
publish the GPL'd portions of their product, in a freely accessible
manner. Despite this, OSWave chose to censor the discussion which took
place in the OSWave online forum, and denied the facts. I have posted
the following in the OpenWrt forum:

http://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=13549

Collaboration and the building and maintaining of productive
relationships is an integrated part of what the OpenWrt Project stands
for. But, this also needs to rest on an open and fair approach.

- Back to the positive: WIP-Day December takes place on the 29th of
December, and the "venue" will be the annual 24c3 Chaos Congress in
Berlin. It is planned to include live-streaming (sound and pictures) and
a lot of party'ing - so get ready to mix some WhiteRussian or "go"
kamikaze :o)
