While thinking about the purpose of the project I decided to clone the existing server so the existing clients could use a copy of their OVPN files by just modifying the port number to connect to. Good to get it confirmed and I could then continue using the easyrsa3 system on the main server to creatre new users as needed and it would work also on the new server. The issue of a non-starting Ubuntu server is hidden in the firmware of the Lenovo PC hardware used and in order to get to it I would have to stop the server and start Windows on it, which is not a simple proposition. Then I probably need to do something to the grub menu afterwards to make it autoselect the actual ubuntu server hosting OVPN when starting. The PC is headless so I would have to installa a monitor and whatnot to get to Windows. I have asked about it on the ubuntu list and gotten replies that really make me not wanting to do that... It was years ago that I started Windows on it...
