I guess that Samuli's build machine (which is a VM in some AWS VPC) has issues unrelated to Debian or OpenVPN - but fixing takes time, so won't always be possible "right the same day". 2.5.5 was a few months ago, in that time there was a bit of restructuring in the VMs that we can use for community stuff, and what got broken at that wasn't noticed until 2.5.6 release.
