Thanks to all who responded to this; I got a lot of very valuable 
information, and am beginning to get a conceptual grasp of ovpn 
configuration principles.

Just like commercial support varies widely from vendor to vendor, 
community support varies from project to project. This list, and its 
participants, are clearly excellent - I got a wealth of very valuable 
information very quickly, which is an extremely comforting thing to know 
before deploying a new technology!!!
