What is in git master today is reasonably stable, at least on unix systems
- I use it on a few production systems, and one of my servers runs a full
test suite against git master and 2.3 clients every day, so at least
"standard server functionality on linux" is known to work.  Obscure options
might not, as I can't test every single configuration variant.

So don't let "development unknown" scare you, just test it with a few
clients and then decide if it's good enough for you.
