I personally have trouble figuring out which approach would be best and given the amount of discussion (~40 mails + one IRC meeting) I assume others have the same problems. I think what we're essentially missing is a shared understanding of the problem itself as well as options we have to fix it. I suggest we organize the information we currently have along these lines:
