I've been struggling, reading through the archives, and can't find a solution
for this issue I've been having... I'm working with OpenVAS 8 code base and
during the install process, as soon as I run “openvasmd --rebuild” i get "Client
not present" in openvassd.messages log. This happens after I've created server
(openvas-mkcert -f) and client (openvas-mkcert-client -i (gives me "Data Base
Updated")) certs, downloaded NVT, SCAP, CERT “databases” and started openvassd
(and waiting for it to load NVTs). None of these commands report any failures
and I've confirmed the certs are in the proper locations. I've done all the
steps reported in other similar tickets but I can't get the error to go away.
What “client” is it referring to; openvassd is running and "waiting for
incoming connections" and the --rebuild seems to succeed otherwise? The next
command I enter is "openvasmd --create-user=om --role=Admin" and it gives me
“Authentication configuration not found” error written to the openvasmd.log. If
I continue on, everything looks good but none of my scans return results (they
do appear to process, I just don't get any results).

Even though I've been working with v8, I've been using http :
//virtuallyhyper.com/2014/06/compile-openvas-7-on-centos-6/ which has a great
write up on how to build the product from source files on CentOS.

My Setup (CentOS 6.4):
openvas-libraries 8.0.3
openvas-manager 6.0.3
openvas-scanner 5.0.3
openvas-cli 1.4.0
glib 2.36.0
gnutils 3.2.14
libmicrohttpd 0.9.39
nettle 2.7
redis 2.4.10-1
sqlite-autoconf 3080701
libcrypt 1.4.5-9
libgpg1.7-4

Any help would be appreciated.
Brian
