I have a windows disk image as a volume and I am trying to get it to boot but windows expects it to be an IDE device and Openstack wants to make it a virtio device.

How can I force the disk type?

I have found various posts that suggest that if I set the metadata I should get the result I want but that does not seem to work.

I should be able to force the IO types to be any of the supported qemu formats?
