Yup, 2.6.18 for RH 5.8 vs 3.x for Ubuntu. Can it make that much of a difference, for performance to be 15 vs 100? That was one of the major differences when we looked at the RH and Ubuntu, but could not think of anything in the new kernel that would make such a drastic difference.
