Your volume is actually an LVM/Volume that you should see by running "sudo lvs". As far as the persistence file, are you runing devstack? If so it will be in /opt/stack/data/cinder/volumes... If not perhaps you could provide your cinder.conf file and we could get a better idea of what you're setup is and where things might be. Thanks, John
