nova --version will return (if it was working) the version of the novaclient
tool.
The proper command is:
# nova-manage version
2012.2 (2012.2-LOCALBRANCH:LOCALREVISION)

In this example, this is the second release for 2012, so it is Folsom.

Cheers,
Mark DeVerter

code?

--version isn't working here (Openstack Folsom @ Ubuntu 12.04) :-/

nova --version
Unknown, couldn't find versioninfo file at /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-
packages/novaclient/versioninfo
