Alexey means the DEB package and not the name of the packaged stuff. You can call python-whatever your package and the contents have the hierarchy you want like whatever.something.else. I agree with Alexey, although I'd love the name of the packages in pypi were consistent with the deb packaging (this could avoid problems like python-cloudfiles in pypi being named python-rackspace-cloudfiles in Ubuntu), so setupy.py can be used to generate DEB packages in a consistent way.
