I agree that having options in how you specify your configuration would be nice. I see that your change is to add yaml support, not replace INI, so that's a plus. Specifically with regards to ansible, you're correct that the ini_file module is sub-optimal, we've recently changed our playbooks away from ini_file to template, because we found that we couldn't properly enforce the contents of the config files with ini only.
