Proper estimation of available resources is not a shame, it's realistic. If you have resources to spare on actually maintaining stable branches and release process around them, you're always welcome to join the effort. For now, I see you are comfortable in your position of a consumer of deliverables. That's fine, but also keep in mind you get what you pay.
