All: I am trying to get a clear understanding of where or if Global Load Balancing as a Service fits within the OpenStack ecosystem. I have included a list of basic use cases that I think a Global Load Balancing service should provide:
• Route traffic (HTTP/FTP/Database/etc...) across multiple data centers without having a single point of failure (i.e. LBaaS Virtual IP address) • Monitor health of defined endpoints (load balancers or servers) with protocol-specific health checks • Route traffic to another data center in the event of a health check failure • Route traffic based on a requestor’s geographical location (GeoIP) • Route traffic based on latency between requestor and defined endpoints Please let me know if you have any opinions/recommendations on this matter or are interested in solving this problem. Kind regards, Tom Creighton _______________________________________________ OpenStack-dev mailing list OpenStack-dev@lists.openstack.org http://lists.openstack.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/openstack-dev
