We have strict policies, what may be included and what is prohibited. - - bundling other libraries is forbidden - - static linking is forbidden For example node.js used to bundle httplib, libssl, and a few others as well. For a long time, it was nearly impossible to build it using dynamic linking. It introduces its own packaging system, thus doesn't update packages via the distribution repositories. Releases are quite often, even major releases. Introducing major releases of a software in a release cycle of a distribution is not wanted at all.
