As above you mention conversion from .pem to .der but .PEM format having
only certificate having like given below:
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
------------------
-----------------
-----------------
-----END CERTIFICATE-----
But .der format having some more other information so I thing just renaming
is not correct way.
