http://www.virustotal.com/

you can upload the file and have it analyzed by multiple
virus/trojan/etc. scanners. Provides a nice report of the results. For
those files that make you go 'hrmmmm'.

My indirect response = my policy regarding this type of material: "The
testing is at best as free as the software it is applied to." In other
words: You want free testing? Provide free software. In my universe,
that includes source code. /Especially/ when one of the
'security'-oriented words gets mentioned.
