I understand the issue, and like I said I was hoping to be retired
before it was an issue.

If we are just going to live with the limitation shouldn't there at
least be a check for the overflow and if so then send a message about
illegal date and not generate the certificate rather then generating a
certificate with a notAfter date prior to the notBefore date ?
