I am being pressed to upgrade OpenSSL on one of my vintage Solaris boxes
running 2.8. I've never done it before, I downloaded the latest packages from
sunfreeware which is openssl-0.9.7g-sol8 but have been unable to find much of
anything on the web about the process. One site said to remove the old package
and install then new, another said that it wasn't worth the effort as the
process might break dependancies.

Since it's clear I'm not an SSL expert, perhaps you folks can head me in the
right direction. Upgrade or not, and if yes, what is the best process to
minimize the impact (let's talk a bit about what that impact might be as well).

Thank you
