I agree with you on principle, but what you're overlooking is one of
the driving forces of open source, "the itch to scratch".  Although
this issue has been known for a while, it has obviously not been
enough of an itch for anyone to make a high priority scratching.
Maybe it itches you enough that you will actually solve the problem?

Understood.  When you do, talk with [EMAIL PROTECTED], that's
