I think I got things mixed up. When I sent the email I
thought that the client application needs its own
certificate as well, in order to communicate with a
server using https... I guess I was wrong. I realize
now that the certificates distributed with Netscape
serve the purpose of verifying the servers identities.

Could you recommend a good introduction to
cryptography/ssl book?
