Use the following for duplication of this issue: 1) A default build of OpenSSL 0.9.7d for Windows. Use MSVC++ 6 SP5 to build it.
2) A sample text file to encrypt using S/MIME (this example assumes the text file's name is "test.txt"). 3) A sample certificate to encrypt the message with (this example assumes the certificate's name is "test.pem"). Executing the following causes a fatal exception: c:\openssl\bin\openssl.exe smime -encrypt -des3 -in test.txt test.pem Credit goes to Kevin M. Goess for finding this bug. Original message follows: >Hi there, > >I was hoping to use your Win32 port of SSL to do some S/MIME stuff, but after >an untouched, default install of the package onto Win2k this command line > >c:\openssl\bin\openssl.exe smime -encrypt -des3 -in tmpfile.2108 testcrt.pem > >only produces this error message: > >openssl.exe - Application Error >The instruction at "0x0029fa94" referenced memory at "0x0008011".
